GEMS 2018 will kick off on October 25th with a half-day GEMS STEMFest Rally for 7th grade girls and their teachers.
The event is geared toward generating enthusiasm and interest in STEM while informing the girls about the study of STEM and subsequent career options. As with the last event, we will integrate a “Design Challenge” or "Hack-a-thon" competition in addition to inviting partner Colleges/Universities, Community Organizations, and Businesses engaging the 7th grade girls in hands-on activities.
The event will also highlight successful women in our community through a panel discussion and keynote address, and will also engage the girls in a Q&A session.
Finally, our hosts at Bourns Engineering will also provide a hands-on STEM area, with successful women engineers assisting with unique activities focused on the many facets of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
