A special thank you to Charter Communications Center for their incredible sponsorship and coordination of the 2nd Annual LIVE UNITED Telethon held on Saturday, May 22, 2010.  The event would not have been as successful without Charter’s dedicated staff coordinating marketing, facilities, video production, celebrity recruitment, talent screening, and public officials’ involvement VIP coordination.  The event ran as "smooth as butter" due to Charter’s hiring an extremely organized producer, CJ Eastman.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Hosts Brad Pomerance and Tracy Young from the Charter Local Edition Headline News team kept the momentum going nonstop from 10 am to 8 pm.  Their incredible energy truly set the tone for a day filled with extraordinarily talented musicians, such as singers Nathan Osmond, Abe McDonald (winner of Oprah’s National Karaoke Contest) and Ray Fuller, jazz guitarist; celebrities from TV shows such as The Apprentice, The Young and the Restless, Deal or No Deal, Hannah Montana, Aaron Stone, Wizards of Waverly Place, and movies such as Get Smart, Meet the Spartans, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Many local dignitaries showed their support, including:  Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge; Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Donald Kurth; Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff; State Assemblymen Members Kevin Jeffries, Bill Emmerson and Paul Cook; and Riverside City Council Members Andy Melendrez, Nancy Hart, Rusty Bailey and Paul Davis.

Brad and Tracy showed their compassion for the United Way story by interviewing people who have been helped through the many United Way agencies.   One of the highlights of the day was the connection Jessica Molina – the first clean and sober baby girl born at the YWCA’s Born Free program – made with The Apprentice winner Stephanie Schaeffer.  Stephanie offered to mentor 19-year- old Jessica in her education pursuits.  Wow! What a fantastic opportunity for Jessica to learn from such a smart and savvy woman.  Thank you Stephanie!

Thank you to all of the Participants and especially to our SPONSORS.

kevin-jeanette-cow_polaroid.gifThe Press Enterprise and CBS Radio Group stations (EZ-103.1, K-FROG-FM, 103.1 ESPN FM, and Stardust 910-AM), KCXX 103.9 and KOLA 99.9 helped promote the event.  Food for the crew and guests was donated by Chik-Fil-A, who also sent their “Eat Mor Chikin” cow to hand out free food coupons, and Mi Tortilla Mexican Grill of Riverside.  This was an example of companies supporting the concept of “COWmunity” (sorry!).

Last but not least, thanks to the Riverside Community Hospital and the Bank of Hemet for giving their generous donations of $5,000 and $3,000, respectively, live on air during the Telethon.

We’re still counting the money and it’s not too late to make a donation!  Visit the LIVE UNITED Telethon website at liveunitedtelethon.org and click on the DONATE NOW button to make your online donation today!
